How To Increase Your Google Adsense Earnings Using List Building

Traffic and Adverts.

Specifically :

traffic (people) that will click your adverts
high paying relevant adverts that the traffic (people) will click

Sounds like crap abi?

Read further.

I will start with the second point I made.

High Paying Adverts

You see, not all adverts you see on Google adsense are equal.Some are high paying and some are low paying.Some are cents per click while some are dollars per click.The high paying ads are dollars per click (obviously).

How Do You Get High Paying Adverts?

Keyword Research.

Specifically , high search and low search profitable keywords found in Profitable Niches.

When you get these profitable keywords and write articles targeted them ,when a visitor lands on your blog or website , relevant adverts will appear.If your visitors click the ad,you make money.

These adverts needs must be placed where the visitor can easily see it and click it.

Now the second part.

Traffic.

I want you to always remember this:

Traffic=People

So when you are building traffic to your blog or website ,you are actually getting people to visit your site.

Always remember this too:

Without Traffic You Will Not Make A dime Online.

Write it on your shirt to make sure you remember it .

And do you know one thing that will bring traffic to your blog or website?

Value.

By value i mean anything that other people see as valuable .

The information you post on your blog or website.Your content.

The problems you are helping people solve.

The goals you are helping people achieve.

All of that .

So when you finally get people to land on your blog or website. Maybe via SEO or via other ways to build traffic, what do they do?

Here are 3 things that can happen.

1. Read your content

2. Read your content and click an advert

3.Close the page

so some people will click an advert some wont and some may just close the page.

They may never visit your blog again .They may.

But the more traffic (people) you have on your blog ,the more the opportunity for these people to click adverts and make you money.

So when all these traffic lands on your blog and don’t click an advert-you may lose that people forever.

Another Scenario

What if it was possible for you to recycle traffic that visits your blog or website now.

I mean own your own traffic source, so that you don’t depend on SEO or search engines or other traffic sources.

So that when you publish something anyway online ,you can easily send people (traffic) to check it out and possibly ,in the process click an advert and make you money.

How much do you think you could make if you published 100 articles (with adverts) and then you send your traffic to it.

The person gets it by signing up into your list.

Unfortunately the person did not click any adverts on your blog.

But 2 days later ,you write another related article about how to protect your blackberry phone.

Now do you think the that guy that signed up will be interested in reading this article?

Yes of course.

So you log into your e-mail marketing and list building program.Write up a short e-mail that says something like this.

Do you want to learn how to protect your blackberry phone. I have just published a new article showing exactly how to do this

click here to read.

You place the link to the article in the e-mail and send it.

Minutes later , the guy receives the e-mail .Open it and read it.He is interested so he click the link and lands on your article.He reads it and this time -clicks on an advert.

You have successfully made money the second time , because you sent him (traffic) to your blog .You made built your own traffic and made money because had built a list.

Just imagine that you have 10 000 people on your list and you sent that exact e-mail to them ,and 5000 people clicked to your site.Just assume that only 100 of them clicked adverts.

This is minus other sources of traffic that will still be landing on your blog.

I leave you to think about how much money that would mean to you.

Let me explain this with a story.

My Failed Publication Business

In 2008/2009 , I started a small publication that had the kind of information you are now reading on nairacow.com.

Everyone interested in online business and information technology LOVED it. I was hailed by friends and strangers. Even the old editions were highly sought after by new readers. In the beginning I was moving on foot to distribute the publication , after a while I knew I had to get a better distribution network .So I went off to a distributor and discussed terms.

And that is where my problem began.

The distributor wanted a cut in the profit of the publication and also wanted me to register the publication with him. And that was for just one town-Calabar. To distribute my publication in other towns I had to also register with the distributors and also share the profits with them.

There was really nothing wrong with this, it is the standard practice.

But I didn’t have the kind of money they wanted so I could not register and because the publication was not a main stream –mass appeal product –I was not making heavy sales.I was making a few sales and slowly building hard core buyers and fans of the product but since it was a new product I didn’t have many buyers. So because of that I could only get a few distributors to distribute without my registration.

I could only distribute in four towns. luckily I had friends who were into other kinds of publications so I piggy banked on their networks and experience to try to distribute mine.

This didn’t work very well for me.

My publication was different. For example old editions were still very valuable but the distributors were destroying it.So in Calabar ,I was still distributing the publication by hand in cyber cafes , computer schools and other places my customers would likely be.But after 8 months of publishing 6 editions, doing distribution manually, making no profit and struggling to push the product to Lagos and other towns, I shut down the business.

I had invested over N100 000 into the business and had nothing to show for it.

But …

The Experience Taught Me So Many Things.

Here are a few of them.

Having a good product is not enough
Customer is king
The publication business is very cost intensive one

The whole experience was a big school for me but this is the big reason why I failed .

I could not get the product into the hands of people who were interested in the product. And I did not have so much money to spend on stuff like adverts.

That was why I really failed.

Lets Imagine Another Scenario

Let’s say I had access to the offline mailing contact or an e-mail list of people who were interesting in the content of my publication.(like a list of people who buy Success Digest Extra). All I would have done here was to send a free copy to this people and after that they would start ordering the publication by themselves. Or they would pay subscription fees.

With this ,I would not have to look for customers because I would have had a way to contact my likely customers. This would have reduced or removed the need for advertising . I would have just used the money for adverts to get the product into the hands of my likely readers.

Now Back To The Question I Asked You

If you are offered full rights to :

A Brand New product that has sold 10 000 copies (and will sell more)
A means of contacting 10 000 people who have declared interest in particular topic and have bought something already(via an e-mail list)

What would you choose?

If you understand my story ,you will see that option b is much better than the first option.

Why?

Because with an e-mail list or a list of customers you have the ultimate leverage. You can do a hundred and one things with an e-mail list.This is why you keep hearing people say , build a list. That is why I am building mine.
