If you are interested in making money online from Nigeria like me, then this post will interest you.There are a few general things you need to know about this making money online thing and I will discuss them with a stupid boring stupid story of mine.

How I started

My online journey started offline. My journey online all started when I started reading books on business and how to start a business offline.Some years ago in my university a friend introduced me to Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad Poor Dad. I went on to read other books written by the author.

The more I read the more I knew I knew nothing so I had to read more.

Which lead me to read other books on entrepreneurship like Multiple Streams of Income and other good books.

Important things I learnt from these business books are:

• the need to solve problems and help people
• business is about helping people solve their problem and advancing their pleasures
• the need and importance of  marketing (marketing is everything)
• Management ,outsourcing and working with people
• The need to build systems into a business or whatever we do
• The need to teach others in order to sell
• The need to tell stories that create sales.
• Importance of customer care
• The need to be honest , helpful and when dealing with people (customers)
• Understanding demand and supply
• Branding and how it helps businesses

It was during this journey that I read about having a business online. I got really interested and started digging further; incidentally, this is when I bought some e-books from Nigeria from Success Digest Extra. (Those guys sold me lies and crap)

By the way, I don’t hate Success Digest Extra; I hate the fact that they allow people selling lies to use their publication as a medium to do so.

Shortly after that, I decided to go online on my own to learn and do anything that really works in making money online from Nigeria. That is what I have been posting on this blog and on my Nigerian business blog. I later read Internet Riches: The Simple Money-Making Secrets of Online Millionaires by Scott Fox, a book I highly recommend you buy and read. It will open your eyes about online business.

So this is how far I have come; these are the few things I have learnt.

Why I Am Telling You This Boring Story?

For many good reasons:

• You have to understand that the internet is only a tool.
• You need to understand and learn that learning about running a business and how to apply it online is important.
• You need to know and understand how you can help people get things done and why people would pay for that kind of help.(service and product)
• You need to understand why having a service or product is important for making money online.
• You need to know about creation of products and services people would pay for
• You need to understand and know how to market yourself , products and services
• You need to learn about how to influence people to buy your stuff

You see, my background is the sciences. I read Architecture in school but had to learn and read about all these things in other to do well online.

Basically, you need to know about how running a business works and how you can adapt and apply it online.

By The Way: Running a business online is basically (I didn’t say it is exactly the same) the same as running a business offline. The biggest difference is the technicalities and media used. Understanding how a business makes money offline will help you understand how you can make money online.Generally running a business online has a lot of advantages and a lot of opportunities.

Very Important: If You Are Not Selling (Or People Are Not Paying For) A Product Or Service Using The Internet From You, Then You Have No Online Business. Period

I would suggest you learn how businesses work offline. Also learn about marketing, internet marketing and the technicalities of online businesses.
