One Important Lesson About Making Money Online Or Offline or Anywhere (Very Very Important)

This post is about a very basic knowledge that i realize many Nigerians or people interested in making money online don’t have .This basic principle is used offline too in every kind of business and activity that involves making money that you can think about. It is so basic many of us don’t know or notice it. I must confess that i was in this same situation some years ago.

I  made a  guest blog post about it on Chuk’s blog but will love to talk more about it here.  And it is simply this , you need to :

The Mistake We Make

You see , many times we think a blog or website is what makes money we forget that basically unless you sell something , no money can be made.If you have read my free e-book on my lessons from making money online from Nigerian and have received my e-mails , you will know that i revealed that i have not made any money yet from this blog yet . And the reason is because i am not selling something yet.(that is about to change because i will be launching a few products and i now have some Google Adsense adverts on some parts of the blog .More on them later)

But the fact remains ,everyone making money online or offline is selling something.

It is the truth and nothing but the truth…and you can ,add so please help me God..

Take a look around you ,take a look around offline every one making legit maoney online is doing one of these things.

1. selling a product (theirs or from other people)

2. Selling a service (Their or from other people)

This is the same thing that happens online and the same way anyone can make money online.It boils down to selling a product (yours or from others) and selling a service(yours or from other people )

What can you sell online ?

Now i know the next logical question to ask is “so what can i sell or provide as a service”?  It is very proper to ask but before i just start giving a list of products to buy i will first reveal to you ways and reasons people buy whatever they spend their money on. 

With this ,you can understand and think up what you can sell and understand why people buy whatever they buy.

For a lot of people when the hear of sell something online the first thing that comes to their head are E-books and sometimes the “make money online niche”.Well ,they are not wrong but they are not completely correct.

All online business models involves selling something online..And before we proceed , i know that there are ways some people make money online without directly selling something ..like getting donations . Apart from this all other ways involves you selling something..at the least it will involve selling your time.

And Yes ,making money by advertising (Google Adsense ) is selling(renting) the space on your web property.

This article discussed things to sell online  but i will try to list more ideas .

1. Google.com 

The make money online by selling advertisement to advertisers on search results and via the Google Adwords program. They help advertisers reach their target market online.

2. Facebook.com 

Similar to Google.They make money by selling or renting advert space to advertisers .Those pictures you see on the right side of your Facebook page are advertisement .people pay for it and that is how Facebook makes all the money it makes.It helps businesses and advertisers reach their target market easily and cheaply.

3.Bellanaija.com 

Makes money by selling advertorial space on the blog using Google Adsense.It may be possible that they do sell private ad placement on their blog.I can’t be very certain.

4.OrderBay.com 

Makes money by providing a service that  help Nigerians buy or pay for goods and services  abroad.

5. NotJustOk.com

Makes money by selling their white space for adverts( Google Adsense ) and private advert placements.they also make money by selling the digital copies of Nigerian music on the site.

6.GapingVoid.com 

Makes money online by selling specially drawn art on cards.He now sells some of the art on T-shirts and even has a book selling on Amazon.(I love the funny art found on that site)

7. IWearYourShirt.com

They guys on this website make money online by selling Ad spots on T-shirts .And they do this for everyday of the year.If you have no idea what i am talking about , go check out their website.

8.IncomeDiary.com 

Micheal Dunlop makes money online by selling his products and other peoples products and services .

And The list goes on…

Many questions that crop up…

I know a lot of questions may have just popped into your head…questions like

1. So what can i sell online to make money

2.How do i know if what i want to sell will be bought

3.where can i sell these things online

And so on and so forth…

These questions are very valid and important…And frankly i cannot answer all of them for you because there are no completely ckear cut answers .It is not like 1 plus 1 equals 2.

But there is something you can do that will help you have a great chance of success. That important activity is called keyword research or market research.

It is what can  help anyone know what to pursue and what not to pursue online.

Summary 

Just 2 things :

1. You need to sell something (a product or service) to make money online and that thing should be what people will want to buy or pay for. Something that may help them in a way to achieve whatever goals the have.

2. You need to have a good idea of what is in demand , where you can supply your solution and the competition involved. And all of that can be discovered if you do proper market and keyword research.
