In the business of making money whether offline or online, there are 2 very important variable –

1. Customers
2. Products and services

No matter how good a product or service is without customers, you will go no way. Likewise, no matter how many customers you have or will have, if you don’t have products and services to sell to them, you will make no money.
These 2 variables are very important and are required before any form of monetary exchange is made offline or online. These 2 variables are required in order to make money whether offline or online.
These 2 variable are required if you want to treat your website or blog as a business.

You see, People only make money online when there is an exchange between customers and people or companies providing products and services. That is when something is being sold.

So what does this have to do with building a list or making money online?
Very very many…
When you are building a list you are building a customers base.
You are receiving permission to talk, promote help and reach people who will likely be interested in what you have to say, sell or give out.
Simply put-when you are building a list; you are building a list of your likely customers. (This works in any niche or market whether offline or online)
That is why online, it is important to know what you are giving out as a freebie in building your list. Because this will eventually help you decide on information that you will provide as blogposts, products, free downloads or services.
For a live example: With the free 70 page product I am giving out, I am building a list of Nigerians who really want to learn the truth about making money from Nigeria. I am going to do my best to help them with all I know through blog posts, products and even services. At the end I would be a win –win situation.

Why You Should Build A List

Having a product or service is important but having a list of customers and permission to reach them is even more important and valuable.
Why?

…Because most times it is much easier to look for products to sell to a list of customers than to look for customers to buy a list of products.

That is the singular reason why building a list is very very important.
So no matter what you are doing online, no matter the business you are doing online. No matter what you are blogging about or the website you own, if you want to make money online, then you should be building a list -fast.
This is why I have decided on List Building + Affiliate Marketing as my preferred online business model. No matter what you business model is, always build a list around it.
