Pick A High Traffic Keyword Rich URL

By URL I mean the part of the blog that comes before the .blogspot.com .

Like dogtraining.blogspot.com .

Whatever you decide to put there is important.

Am saying this because I notice that a lot of people just pick any URL for their blogs. They use their names . They add numbers and all kinds of symbols. Well , if you already have a brand  offline or online then you don’t really have a problem. But you need to know that there are consequences for picking one URL over the other.

You need to know these consequences and exactly what you are doing.

Add by the way, there are some things that are complete no nos when it comes to picking a domain name or URL. So take note of them too.

Generally speaking , for search engine optimization reasons , it is better to coin a domain that has the main keywords people search for in your niche.

There are of course a few exceptions.

LindaIkeji.blogspot.com is a good example. She used her name and has built a very popular blog. Well, she is in gossip, celeb news niche which is a wide open niche. she also has many other things working for her.

So if you try to copy that in your own niche ,it may not work for you. Most times it is better to get a URL that helps people and Google identify what you are about.

So How Do You Decide On A Good URL To Choose?

Simple.

Do keyword research.

Keyword research is basically the act digging up the words and keywords that people in your target niche use to search for information online.

For example when people want information about how to start a bulk sms service they will search for information by typing “how to start a bulk sms business” , “bulk sms” , “bulk sms business” and other relevant search terms.

These are the main keywords in that niche.

If you target that niche and you have a blog URL that contains these keywords or phrases ,you are telling people and the search engines what you are really about.

Another thing.

The keyword must be one with lots of searches or a good enough search volume.

1. If you want to start a blogger blog (or blogs in any free blogging platform) pick a URL with the main keywords in your niche .
2.  You can find them by doing keyword research.
